Rotating Ring & Bezel

Quality is in the detail - this claim is also demonstrated with DAMASKO watches in the field of rotating bezels, of which there are many varieties: as a classic hour/minute ring with divisions of 1-11 or 5-55, as a countdown ring, or as a unidirectional diver ring. Three ceramic detent bodies, submerged in grooves made specifically for this purpose, ensure for an exact positioning of the bezel. The bezel and bezel insert are manufactured from our ice-hardened stainless steel, equipped with our patented DAMEST® coating, and con- structed to stay in place. The scale of the ring is not printed, as is conventional practice, but lasered in-house and equipped with white multi-component paint. This prevents the abrasion or chipping of the paint in the long-term.

The classic DAMASKO models with multi-directional rotating bezels can be personalised with a division of 1-11 or 5-55. For example, when measuring a short amount of time, a bezel with minute-based divisions can be set up by simply placing the luminous index at the starting point of an event. In this way, the elapsed time can be comfortably read at the end of said event. On the other hand, the hour-based division is ideal for keeping in touch with colleagues in other time zones. To make use of this function, the luminous index is simply set at the difference between two time zones, enabling you to compare the current times in each respective time zone at a glance. This enables reliability with appointments in any time zone.

The countdown function with 55-5 bezel division is used in the DC 8X series. The anti-clockwise countdown timer is often employed in the military sector. Here, an extreme longevity of the watch can be predicted due to the fully hardened patented DAMASKO mertensitic stainless steel.

In our DSUB line, we have installed a special diver ring made from highly resilient and sea-water-resistant austenitic submarine steel. The extremely strong illuminated point guarantees surprisingly good readability in all underwater conditions. The elapsed diving time can be easily read at a glance at the watch face and bezel. The unidirectional aspect of the ring ensures an exact planning of the crucial decompression phases. Thanks to the bezel detent, developed by DAMASKO, an unintentional readjustment of the bezel is highly unlikely.

Crystal

In order to ensure perfect readability, only anti-reflective sap- phire crystal is used in DAMASKO timepieces. With around 2,000 HV (hardness as per Vickers testing), sapphire crystal is the hardest usable crystal material, far surpassing all other alternatives in terms of scratch protection and shock resistance. Standard practice is to make the flat faces anti-reflec- tive on both sides. Upon request, the sapphire crystal can only be coated on the interior. In selected models, domed (convex) sapphire crystal is used. We install a UV-resistant crystal seal on all of our models.
