Pure physics – sophisticated magnetic protection
As attractive as the design of DAMASKO watches is, physical magnetism can become a problem for movements. DAMASKO has responded to the issue of effective protection against magnetic fields with a clever design: the shielding cage, which all DAMASKO models without a glass bottom have, combines pure physics with precise detailed solutions and intelligent material technology and makes the DAMASKO timepieces absolutely suitable for everyday use. The inner workings of the DAMASKO are surrounded by a protective casing consisting of a dial, movement ring and inside back, an accurately fitting, completely closed shield. The inner casing is similar to a Faraday cage. In combination with the shape of the casing, the special alloy prevents magnetic fields from penetrating the movement and adversely affecting its accuracy. Normally, a mechanical amagnetic watch does not stop if it is exposed to a magnetic field of 4,800 A/m and accordingly has a rate deviation of no more than 30 seconds per day. DAMASKO timepieces exceed this standard. The additionally integrated shielding cage made of a special alloy provides protection against magnetism of up to 80,000 A/m.
